Leon Redbone is the Man!!!

Hot Chip – Coming on Strong

So I am in the middle of shopping around for records that I want. Probably every record I am going to buy is going to be something I already own. Cause spending money on something you are not sure you’re going to like is silly. So I bought this one off the internet with my Thunderheist album! Ummm….This record is really good and sounds a lot better on vinyl then it does in MP3 format. I am sure most of you don’t even give a damn cause I almost don’t. But at the same time I kind of do care. Get It??

So I Have Decided To Start This Blogging Thingy Again

So….I know it has been a while, but I guess in the past months or however long it has been I just wasn’t feeling inspired. I do now. So anyhoo, something happened to me the other day which I though was interesting. There have been plenty of times where I have heard people talk about how much better records sound than mp3s. Mostly, I would hear my professors in college talk to me about how digital music is totally screwed. “All you’re hearing are 0′s and 1′s. That is not music. Fuck, it gives me a headache listening to that shit.”  I didn’t agree with them. But some things have been happening to me recently that got me thinking twice on the matter. First, a buddy of mine, Charles Vestal, is doing away with the mp3 for the year of 2010. I was in New York hanging out and he gave me a record, Breakbot’s “Baby I’m Yours”  The song is amazing.

Wasn’t that fun?  So one day I was having a little soiree at the house.  In my living room I have a stereo system with two bose speakers, a record player, and an iPod connection.

I put the Breakbot album on my record player and it sounded amazing. After the album ended, I wanted to keep the party going with some more dance music. I put on some Thunderheist from my iPhone.  It sounded so horrid I had to change the music to another LP.  The mp3 sounded totally flat.  Like dog shit.

So I own a lot of records.  Most of them I got from my father.  A lot of John Denver, Cat Stevens, The Band and more of that type of stuff. I guess I never realized how good records sound because I wasn’t listening to the right ones.  If I play a John Denver record and then listen to the same album on my computer, I won’t hear any difference.  But modern day dance music sounds so much better on vinyl it is not even funny.  So I went out and got some of my favorite albums on vinyl.

Thunderheist – Thunderheist

This album is so good it kills me.  Check out their video for Jerk It.

Lady Gaga

So I LOVE Lady Gaga.  I actually went to her little concert the other night and it was so much fun!!!!  I was like, “I’m your little monster!!!  Look at my paws!!! I am a superstar!!!” And once I decided to get the Thunderheist LP  I had to get Lady Gaga as well.

Once this came in the mail I put it on and played it as loud as my speakers would let me. Oh my gawd, it really sounds so good.  Way better then my mp3s. Here is the difference. When I listen to mp3s and turn it up, the sound comes at me like a beam of sound. There is no depth to the sound. With vinyl, when I turn it up loud, the sound wraps around me like a warm blanket. The sound spreads out like a shotgun of kisses. So I am pretty happy about this decision to start buying vinyl. So here is some Lady Gaga for you as well.  Enjoy!!
