This Is Unbelievable

Is It Bedtime Yet?

Due to the fact that my work schedule has changed to the morning shift, I am tired all the time now. I live a hour drive from where I work and I have to be in at 5am every morning. So my next few posts are going to be music I like to sleep to. Here is a good one. Philip Glass is an American composer. He composed all the music for the movie The Hours. I have never actually seen the movie but the music is damn good. It is wonderful to doze off to. Steam Yoga?

Krystian Zimerman plays Beethoven Piano Sonata No 8 in C minor Op 13

This is my favorite of Beethoven piano sonatas. Actually I think it is really the only one I am familiar with. The other day I did buy the first 10 Beethoven sonatas on vinyl for $5.   So far the only one I have listen to is No. 8. Typical I know. I’ll get to the others another day.  The first and third movements are my favorites. I have yet to fall in love with the second like I have the other two. Can’t win them all I guess.

Botch – We Are The Romans

You know I am not sure how this album ended up in my iTunes library. But thank the Lord above it got there. This album was one of a kind when it came out in 2000. Undeniably raw and aggressive. Check em out.

Leon Redbone – Double Time

One day when I was cleaning out my record collection I came across this Leon Redbone album. It was a record I got from my father, but it received little attention.  Not because it is bad music, but only because I didn’t  listen to it. I saw it one day and put it on the old record player and I discovered something great. Leon Redbone is a guitar player and singer. This is the one of two albums  I own and this one in particular reminds me of my days in New Orleans. There were many nights where I would stumble into the Spotted Cat on Frenchman Street and hear music just like this. It warms my heart to own this album.

At The Gates – Purgatory Unleashed

So a little while ago At The Gates put out one of the best metal CDs of all time, Slaughter of the Soul. After being broken up for over ten years, they decided to do a world wide reunion tour. I went and saw them at the Filmore in San Francisco and it was the best show I had ever seen. I remember when I was about 12 years old I would think to myself, if I could see three bands live which ones would they be?  At the Gates, Acid Bath, and I don’t remember the third one. My guess it was probably Pantera. Well anyhoo, I saw Pantera but I never would have guessed I would have seen At the Gates too!!!!  Acid Bath is right out. That is never going to happen. This is a live recording of an At the Gates show in Wacken in Germany!  Check it out.
